Tuesday Tip: To Market, To Market

There’s nothing like a London Christmas. So if you find yourself in my favorite city this Yuletide season, get into the spirit by visiting the annual Southbank Centre Christmas Market.

Reminiscent of a picturesque German village, the Christmas Market’s wooden cabins and festive decorations put even the Grinch with the smallest heart in a happy holiday mood.

Come for the holiday shopping and traditional carousel rides, stay for the mulled wine and fabulous people watching. The handcrafted goods make for great gifts (I bought a shawl for my mom here years ago, and she still gets compliments every time she wears it), and its central location makes the Market a convenient place for a winter outing.

Plus, one of my favorite places, Gordon’s Wine Bar, is just across the Thames. Although that really has nothing to do with Christmas…

The Christmas Market is open daily through January 4. Closest Tube stops are Embankment and Waterloo.
