Have you ever visited somewhere as an adult only to have no recollection of it later? A place that is worth remembering, not a fuel stop along the road, that you have seen while fully sober and with no mitigating health factors? A moment in time completely erased from your memory?
I went to Stratford, England, in 2003. I have a handful of (really awful) pictures to prove it, but absolutely no stories to tell. What does that say about a place, for it to have such a low impact that my mind has rendered it unseen?
I remember more about a hotel my family spent the night in 20 years ago on our way to Alaska than I do about where Shakespeare was born.
Please tell me I’m not alone in this phenomenon. I can’t think of any other time it’s happened, but, then again, I wouldn’t remember, would I?
Yes I can relate. My parents took me to Turks and Caicos apparently when I was three. I have absolutely no recollection of that trip :-(.

What a shame! I’ve “lost” trips from my childhood, too, with the destinations existing only in pictures for me now. It’s so sad.

It is isn’t it. Now I want to go back but this time it will have to be on my dime π

I live about 15 miles from Stratford and I’m not surprised you’ve forgotten it – I can barely remember anything about it. It wouldn’t make my ‘top 100 places in England’ list!

Ha, good to know I needn’t bother planning another trip there.

Usually, I remembered them as soon as someone mentioned them with a few details. I never really forgot a trip as an adult π

Hmm, perhaps I need a CT Scan…
